The pride that chapter advisors feel when young men accomplish their goals and dreams is exhilarating. The biggest reward is seeing youth reach their full potential and knowing devoted volunteers had a hand in their development.
An advisor for a local DeMolay chapter must be 21 years of age or older and enjoy working with young men between the ages of 12 and 21. Most importantly, they should be young at heart. Men and women are encouraged to become advisors.
An applicant must be a role model to DeMolay members, to the advisory council, to the sponsoring bodies and to the world in general. They must think as young men think, act as they act and be inspired in order to inspire. Advisors must dedicate themselves, be enthusiastic and provide motivation to active, energetic young men for whom the sky is the limit for their potential to succeed.
The time commitment includes bi-monthly meetings (which may feature trips or other activities), planning sessions and an annual convention.
Advisors don’t volunteer for the money or to build a resume but rather the fulfillment of seeing young men mature and grow as individuals, team leaders and friends.
Every potential advisor goes through a background check and PA State clearances prior to working with youth. Please contact PMYF for complete details on a DeMolay Chapter near you, when the chapter meets, the steps to becoming an advisor and for answers to your questions.
