Research focused on bullying and cyberbullying among children and teens has found that the toxic stress from bullying victimization has a direct impact on the developing brain. Being targeted for bullying, particularly long-term bullying, impacts specific regions of the brain, leading to chronic emotional stress, compromised mental health and physical and social dysfunction. Researchers believe that youth who exhibit symptoms of depression and PTSD from bullying may actually be showing symptoms of neurophysiological changes. This workshop will:

  • Look at the long-term research addressing the impact of bullying on the developing brain
  • Examine bullying as a traumatic stressor impacting brain health
  • Discuss the impact of bullying victimization among children, teens and adults on their health and well-being
  • Review effective strategies and resources to address bullying and cyberbullying.
