SUMMARY:This is Your Brain on Social Media - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Adults spend an average of three to four hours per day on their screens\, while youth spend an average of seven. Children are getting smartphones earlier than ever – 53% of kids have their one by age 11\, and by age 12\,71% do. This workshop will:  \n\nLook at the social media trends among youth \nExamine the underlying science of smartphones\, social media and the brain \nReview the current research addressing media diet \nDiscuss the impact of social media and media diet on youth health \nLook at strategies for helping youth navigate the digital life \n\nIf you wish to register for a webinar\, please contact Amy Nace at alnace@pmyf.org or call 717-367-1536\, ext. 2.

SUMMARY:Weathering the Storm of Girlhood Sadness - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:In the last few years\, our youth have reported increased mental health concerns and challenges\, along with experiences of violence and suicidal ideation and behavior. The CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey drew attention to the record high levels of sadness\, violence and suicide risk of our girls. This workshop will address the issues impacting girls and their mental health: social media culture\, sexual violence\, stress and trauma\, academic pressures and bullying and harassment. Strategies and resources to address the concerns of our girls will be explored. \nIf you wish to register for a webinar\, please contact Amy Nace at alnace@pmyf.org or call 717-367-1536\, ext. 2.

SUMMARY:Digital Health for Youth: Addressing Mental & Physical Well-Being in the Digital World - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Youth spend a significant amount of time in the digital world\, and at increasingly younger ages. The digital world has opened doors to everything from educational opportunities\, to meeting and getting to know others\, to creating vlogs\, blogs and other creative outlets. There has also been a decline in in-person interactions with peers\, alongside a sharp rise in mental health issues. How to effectively manage this digital world is key to the mental health and emotional well-being of our youth. In additional to exploring the current research\, this workshop will:  \n\nReview research addressing youth and media diet \nLook at the mental health aspects of digital speech\, including cyberbullying\, self-harm and addiction to media \nExamine the emotional health aspects of digital speech \nReview the issues of tolerance\, decency and understanding \nDiscuss resources that can help develop the mental and physical well-being of youth in the digital world \n\nIf you wish to register for a webinar\, please contact Amy Nace at alnace@pmyf.org or call 717-367-1536\, ext. 2.
